Puzzeles, platforming, and racing, oh my! This week Nintendo has all that and more available for download for the Wii™ and Nintendo DSi™ systems. For 500 Wii points you and a friend can make your way through 30 levels of mixed racing and platforming with JellyCar 2 from Disney Interactive Studios. Or those points could go towards Soccer Bashi (Iconic Games Entertainment). This fantasy sports game will allow you and one other player to take a regular soccer game to the next plane with 90 levels, several different playing modes, and it even has a built-in level design editor for full customization. For all the puzzle game junkies, there is the demo version of Art of Balance from Shin’en Multimedia. There are at east 100 levels of block staking challenges that will test your physics abilities and creativity. As a demo, this download won’t cost you any points, but after getting a taste of this engaging game, you might just spend the 800 Wii points for the full version and even invite a friend over to challenge you in the versus mode.
Two Capcom classic games are available on the Wii Virtual console service at 800 Wii points each. Ghosts’N Gobins was a 1985 arcade hit featuring King Arthur and his epic battle to save his princess from the clutches of evil. This game is not for the lighthearted as your adventure will end abruptly after only two hits form an enemy, although you might find it comical to watch the hero slay bad guys in his underwear as a consequence! Also hailing from 1985 is Exed Exes. You’ll blast away killer insects in this intense vertically-scrolling shooting game and you can increase the challenge by taking advantage of the two player mode.
And finally for the DSi there are three new titles available. For the lover of cute, cutely furry things, there is Petz Catz Family. This edition of the Petz series gives you the opportunity to interact with the entire family of cats and enjoy all the features of the previous editions for 500 DSi points. Also for 500 points is Surfacer+ from Lexis Numerique. You can make some good use of your stylus by strategically pacing flowers to cover the screen and rack up some points, all while avoiding or recovering from enemy sneak attacks. EJ Puzzles: Hooked is yet another 500 point puzzle game, but with an interesting sporty twist. You play as a fisherman in search of fresh fish in new waters and on many different dynamic maps. However, you will need strategy and planning to succeed in filling orders for your superior, if not, the consequences could set you back…you can’t catch any fish with a broken line!
As said before, this week brought a variety of games but if none of them are for you there will be new titles in the Nintendo DSi Shop and the Wii Shop Channels by 9 a.m. Pacific time next Monday, and every Monday after that! Check out http://wii.com or http://www.nintendodsi.com for more info.
