Out with the old in with the new…well not exactly. Nintendo has made several games, both old and new, available for download though the WiiWare, Virtual Console, and DSiWare services. Every Monday Nintendo faithfully updates these services by adding new games and demos to download using Wii or DSi points. This past Monday was no different; many new games were added ranging from the ever addictive puzzle game to the action packed platformer. Not sure about spending your precious points on an unfamiliar game? No problem, you can always browse the virtually never-ending Wii and DSi titles for free demo downloads to try out for free; you may not be able to save your progress but this is a great way to try out some cool games before making a final decision. And if newer games are not really your preference, there’s also the Virtual Consol service on the Wii letting you enjoy some vintage video games right from your Wii. Here are some of the titles that Nintendo has to offer this week!
First up, available through Wii Ware for 500 Wii Points is Sneezies from Chillingo. This one player game will have you rescuing sneezies from floating bubbles by shaking sneezing powder on them via the wii-mote. There are 45 levels of laid back sneezie fun or you could test your skills in the Challenge Mode. If cute floating characters don’t quite excite you, try out Ghost Mania from Legendo Entertainment. Again only, 500 Wiii Points to download this “falling block” puzzle game that can entertain up to two players. The premise of the game is to help two recently unemployed ghost hunters recapture the ghost that hey have previously let loose. If you’re just not into puzzle games, DreamBox Games can provide you with the action adventure platformer Robox. Available as a free demo or the full version at 1000 Wii Points, this game will have you discovering all sorts of visually striking worlds, engaging in grand battles, and interacting with interesting characters. Some other recently released titles include the four player games Chick, chick, BOOM (800 Wii Points) and Around the World (500 Wii Points), as well as, the single player game Max & the Magic Marker for 1000 Wii Points or as a free demo.
Available for the Nintendo DSi are several more exciting titles, such as Alt-Play: Jason Rohrer Anthology. This is more of a collection of independent games from Jason Rohrer including Passage, Gravitation, and Between. The collection is available for 200 DSi points and can support up to two players. For just 300 more points you can download World Searcher 2 from Digital Leisure Inc. This single player title is no ordinary word search game; it includes 100 different word categories, even a palindrome category. Needless to say the challenge will definitely be there for the word-loving gamer! For the more musically inclined gamer there is Music on: Drums, also 500 DSi points. Create up to 64 songs using a combination to 160 different sounds through 16 levels of “DJ-esk” composing. Other games for the DSi include the side-scrolling shooter G.G Series Z•ONE (200 points), the puzzler DodoGo! Challenge (500 points), and Fantasy Slots: Adventure Slots and Games for 500 points.
Finally there are the two Virtual Console titles originally from the Neo Geo; Magical Drop III and Fighter’s History Dynamite. Both are available for 900 Wii points each and allow up to two players to enjoy some classic fighting or puzzle solving entertainment. If you didn’t see a title that interested you this week, don’t forget that Nintendo adds new titles every Monday at 9AM (PT).
