Tethys Interactive Announces Astral Terra!
Written By: Kenneth Seward Jr.
If you asked me a year ago if I liked voxel-based, sandbox gaming (think Minecraft), I would have said absolutely not. The premise behind these titles seemed cool, but it just wasn’t for me. After playing Re-Logic’s Terraria though…well, let’s just say I’m more open to the genre as a whole.
It sounds a little cheesy to say that one game made me want to check out other voxel titles, but that’s the case. It’s also the reason I’m giving a new kickstarter campaign my attention. Tethys Interactive, a Midwest based indie developer, recently announced Astral Terra – a voxel-based fantasy themed open world sandbox RPG.
One of the standout features is this notion of smooth voxels; the world can be manipulated real time as if you were the developer mapping out the environment. It reminds me a little of Microsoft’s Project Spark but on a slightly smaller scale with RPG elements. Gamers will be able to gain XP to unlock skills, craft loot, adventure with friends, battle or befriend monsters and more. Astral Terra will also allow for constant character progress across all servers, worlds, planes to curve the need to make multiple characters (unless of course, you want to make more characters).
To find out more about Astral Terra, be sure to check out the Kickstarter. We’ll be sure to continue our coverage as things progress!
