The Game Developers Conference (GDC) is growing larger and larger leading up to the show. More talks are being added (there are already talks featuring titles like Dragon Age and Space Invaders Infinity Gene) following the news of Cliff Bleszinski hosting the GDC Choice Awards. The show’s organizers have chosen to highlight some notable talks from the Main Conference. These include lectures on Batman: Arkham City, Gravity Rush (scheduled to release on the Vita) and an in-depth look at Double Fine’s prototyping and production process. Check out the press release:

“- In the Visual Arts track, Rocksteady art director David Hego will host, "Batman: Arkham City - Journey from the Asylum to the City," in which he will dive into the evolution and creative process behind the visuals of the studio's latest comic-inspired action game. Along the way, Hego will detail how the team infused elements of the Batman universe throughout Arkham City's game world, which both excited players and created an avenue for rich visual storytelling.
- In another Visual Arts lecture, Sony artist Yoshiaki Yamaguchi will offer a behind the scenes look at the art direction driving the upcoming action adventure title for PlayStation Vita, Gravity Rush. The talk, titled "Bringing the Visuals of Gravity Rush to PlayStation Vita," will examine the game's primary artistic influences, and will provide unique insight on creating sharp visuals with Sony's latest handheld.
- Finally, Double Fine Productions will host the Production track session "Creative Panic: How Agility Turned Terror Into Triumph," detailing the studio's latest approach to prototyping and project management. During the talk, Double Fine president Tim Schafer and project leads Lee Petty, Brad Muir, and Nathan Martz will explain how they use the firm's Amnesia Fortnight rapid prototyping process to create prototypes that grew into acclaimed games such as Stacking, Once Upon A Monster, and Iron Brigade (formerly Trenched).” – Press
All of Main Conference tracks will run from March 7 through March 9 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. Even though these talks are a small part of the overall show, I’m still excited for what we can learn from them. Stay tuned; as GDC 2012 will continue to grow, we’ll continue to cover it!
