We all knew it was coming. Or…at least, with all of the viral campaigning, we had good reason to believe it was coming. Capcom has officially announced Resident Evil 6 today. Not only that, but it’s supposed to come out this November! That makes…what three RE titles dropping in 2012 (the other two being Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City and Resident Evil: Revelations).

Being a fan of the series I’m ecstatic to hear another Resident Evil title is dropping this year. And based on what I’ve heard, this is going to be the biggest title in the series. Check the press release around the story:

“It has been ten years since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Due to be by the President’s side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision. At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack.  With no country safe from these attacks and the ensuing outbreaks, the entire world’s population is united by a common fear that there is no hope left.” –Press

Yep, you guessed it. This is the first time that Leon and Chris will be in the same title!
Will they be fighting zombies again, the Uroboros, Majini/Ganados or a combination of all three? Who knows; as long as there are more scares than action (looking at you RE5) then I’ll be happy. With that being said, the trailer does show some action packed sequences. We even she footage of Leon sliding on the ground, away from a zombie will firing shots. Again, I can’t wait to get my hands on this title. Resident Evil 6 drops November 20th for the Xbox 360 and PS3 (PC version will come sometime later). Be sure to stick around as we continue to cover this title!
